Book an Appointment
Book a Routine Appointment
The surgery is open from 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays (until 7.30pm on most Mondays), but is closed between 1.00pm and 2.00pm, except for urgent clinical matters.
Our appointment system continues to evolve to meet the demands of our patients. We offer face-to-face and telephone consultations. Please let our reception team know which you prefer.
You can book an appointment in person, by phone by calling 020 7354 1972 or by using the NHS App
Our online consultation service (e-Consult) is also available to all patients and has proved to be very popular.
Consultations are by appointment and each routine appointment is for 10 minutes. It is possible to deal with two short problems in this time: if you have more than two, or feel you need more time, please book a double appointment
Practice Nurses
Practice nurse appointments are available Monday to Friday.

Text Messaging Reminders
You can receive information by text message on your phone regarding appointments and health care.
If you wish to register for this messaging service please ensure we have a valid mobile number on file.
If you do not wish us to text you appointment reminders please inform a member of the Reception Team who will switch off the service for you.
Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)
You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.
Travel Vaccinations

Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception between 8:30am and 11:00am.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
Change or Cancel an Appointment
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so that your appointment can be offered to someone else.
Cancellations notified less than 30 minutes before the appointment time will be recorded as failure to attend (DNA).
Repeated failure to attend booked appointments is a significant waste of NHS resources and may lead to your registration being removed from our list.
Out of Hours
Evening and Weekend Appointments
We are here for you, evenings and weekends and we want to make it easier for you to get an appointment at a time that suits you. Evening and weekend appointments are available for our patients, in addition to our normal opening hours (8.30am to 6.30pm).
These evening and weekend appointments may take place by phone, video, or face-to-face depending on your clinical need.
You may be offered an appointment at The Miller Practice, another local GP practice or another local NHS Service. This is because we are working with other local GP practices to provide these appointments. Our practice is part of a small group of practices called a Primary Care Network. This group of practices work together in a number of ways including offering evening and weekend appointments to our patients.
Further information is available on the Islington GP Federation website
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself - for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Non-urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it's not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
Hospital Appointments
If you have a query about your hospital appointment please contact the hospital in the first instance and not the surgery.
If you have been referred by one of our team to see a specialist doctor in hospital or community clinic you will hear directly from the hospital or clinic.
If your appointment was booked via the e-referral system you can book your appointment online or you can phone the NHS e-Referral Service on 0345 608 8888.

Teaching Practice
The Miller Practice is a teaching practice and works closely with University College Hospitals and the Royal Free Hospital medical schools.
Occasionally you may be asked if you mind a medical or nursing student being present during your consultation. You have the right to refuse this and refusal will not affect your treatment in any way. However we would be grateful if you could support us in this very worthwhile part of our work.
